Infrared Sauna

Benefits of Infrared Salt Sauna Therapy

Why Salt?

Himalayan salt is a wonderful addition to infrared sauna, because the salt bricks saturate the interior of the sauna with negative ions. These are the very same negative ions that permeate the air at the beach with waves breaking. The salt in the ocean releases negative ions into the air, which reduce pollutants and promote a calmer, happier disposition in the people who breathe it. Together, the sauna and salt blocks provide a vigorous body detox.

Detoxification

Detox from our sauna is 7 to 10 times greater than a conventional sauna. In a conventional sauna the average person sweats out 3% toxins and 97% water. In an Infrared sauna, the average person sweats out 20% toxins and 80% water!

Pain Relief

Relieve back, neck, and arthritis pain with infrared sauna heat therapy. Researchers studying Heat Responsive Pain (HRP) have observed remarkable therapeutic benefits by using continuous low level heat therapy for treating lower back and upper body pain, all conditions that fall under the HRP classification.

Weight Loss

A 30 minute infrared sauna session can burn up to 200-600 calories! As the body works to cool itself while using an infrared sauna, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate. Infrared heat therapy raises core body temperature causing passive cardiovascular conditioning. Your body’s natural response to infrared heat therapy is to increase circulation and sweat. Check out the results with a heart rate monitor and you will be amazed!

Lowers Blood Pressure

Repeated infrared treatment at 30 minute sauna sessions three times a week.improves impaired blood vessel functions in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. This also suggests a preventative role for sauna use for arteriosclerosis.

Improves Circulation

Heating of muscles with infrared produces an increased blood flow level similar to that seen during exercise. Body temperature elevation also contributes to an increase in blood flow. Infrared heat assists in resolution of inflammatory infiltrates, edema/swelling and waste products. The increased peripheral circulation provides the transport needed to help evacuate the swelling which can help end inflammation, decrease pain and help speed healing.

Skin Purification

Improve your skin’s appearance with regular use of Infrared sauna. Open wounds heal quicker with reduced scarring. Infrared heat therapy helps acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns and any skin lesions or cuts. It also reduces wrinkles, makes skin look radiant, firms and improves skin tone and elasticity. Regular use may also help reduce cellulite trapped beneath the skin, lessen the appearance of scars, and help burns heal significantly.

HOW TO PREPARE:

  • Wait at least 1 –2 hours after eating before beginning your session.
  • Come hydrated! A good rule of thumb is to divide your body weight by two and drink a minimum of that many ounces of water on a daily basis (160 lbs. divided by 2 = 80 ounces of water or eight 10 ounce glasses of water, daily.) Feel free to bring water into the sauna, especially if you’re sensitive to higher heats.
  • Some people prefer to be totally naked in the sauna, while others would rather wear a bathing suit or lightweight shirt and shorts. The sauna is in a private room with a locking door, so you can dress however you’re most comfortable for your session.
  • Bring 2 towels! One is to sit on and one is to dry off with after. You will be sweaty! (which is really good for you). If you forget to bring towels, we have some that you can rent for $10.

DURING YOUR SESSION:

  • How you spend your 30 minutes in the sauna is up to you! Relax, read, meditate, gently stretch and/or massage the body (especially the neck and shoulders!), listen to music, or even take your cell phone in with you.
  • Using an infrared sauna will cause you to sweat a lot. (You may not sweat a lot during your first 2-3 sessions. This is normal!) If you feel lightheaded upon standing up, make sure you move slowly and sit down for a bit outside of the sauna.
  • If sauna cabin temperature becomes too hot or stuffy for your comfort, just open the door a bit for a minute to let some fresh air inside.
  • By stretching your body gently during your sauna session, you can achieve increased body flexibility, range of motion, and reduce chronic stiffness in problem areas. You can also massage congested or “knotty” muscle areas.
  • Take care not to overheat during your first few sessions. If you feel lightheaded, have a queasy stomach, or start to get a headache, terminate the session immediately! As the body continues to adjust, sweating can increase dramatically and body temperature regulation becomes more effective.
