Meet The Doctor
Dr. Jena Hullman, DC has been a doctor in this community for over 13 years. Big Beautiful Life was chosen as the name because that is exactly what she does as a wellness doctor: inspires and helps people to have their own big, beautiful life. From the inside out.
“Rather than focusing only on peoples symptoms, I promote health and better functioning; my intention is to teach people not to base their health on how they feel but rather to think about how they can enhance their function because that’s where the real gift lies. Wellness chiropractic and the chiropractic lifestyle (eating well, exercising, drinking water, maintaining healthy emotions & relationships) is an AMAZING way to not only get the body well but to keep the body well. We are taught in this society to base our health on how we feel but in my office I’m practicing and teaching a much bigger idea. You can feel great and not be healthy (ex. finding out you have cancer when you felt fine); you can feel awful and it’s actually a very healthy response (ex. fever)…
What I feel I do at BBL that is unique/ the best: I am the most advanced trained Nutrition Response Testing® practitioner in Traverse City; I am great with kids and have perfected making chiropractic care and/or NRT fun for them; I specialize in helping pregnant women and have a wealth of pre-natal advice as I taught a natural birth class for 9 years; I strive to be a beacon for young mothers who are interested in raising their kids more holistically. I had extremely healthy pregnancies, had 2 amazing home births, my kids avoided all childhood medications and are wonderfully healthy. I breastfed both successfully for a total of 3.5 years, I practice gentle discipline, I co-slept with my babies/kids, I wore them in wraps & slings; and I genuinely care about my patients and try very hard to create relationships with them so that they feel heard and know that they are special.”
Born in Grand Rapids, MI, Dr. Jena is licensed by the Michigan Board of Chiropractic and a resident of Traverse City. She received her B.S. degree from Michigan State University, and her Doctor of Chiropractic from Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC. Dr. Jena is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and is certified in the Webster Technique for reducing and relieving intra-uterine constraint during pregnancy. She also does different health-related presentations at her office and in the community.
“I focus on women and children (and men can come too!) in my practice because not only is it my mission to serve, but to help women and children achieve higher levels of health. When women are given more options to create healthier families, the community that we live in, play in, work in, go to school in… becomes healthier.”
